Escaping the Matrix Part 1

Before we can escape anything we need to know exactly what has us imprisoned. For those of you who have seen the Matrix movies you will have a pretty go idea where I am heading here. My definition of the Matrix is fairly simple and is expanding but let’s get a very fundamental conception first. I will offer more on this in future articles. The Matrix is a construct, a prison for the mind, created by the unawakened mind, as a result of false belief systems that are so insidious that most of humanity is unaware that they are immersed in its illusionary grasp. One could also speculate that we contribute to our own imprisonment by our voluntary unwillingness to question rules, regulations, doctrine, and dogma that have been legislated and taught by all of our institutions over decades if not centuries.

So stepping out of this invisible cage might seem fairly easy but I can tell you from my own experience that is not always the case because it is a life altering journey that dramatically changes your inner world as well as your understanding of physical reality. Many may choose to never wake up, as that inner calling is ignored because they are comfortable in their life or are afraid to remove themselves from the perceived safety of the herd and the beliefs that is held there in. I do honor everyone’s personal choices, free will must be maintained.

In my last article, I mentioned using meditation as a wonderful tool to quiet the ‘monkey brain’ and get in touch with the greater aspect of our Inner Self as well as the benefits of that. Let’s call that step one. Now here’s where that improved connection to inner guidance comes in handy. We live in the age of information that is expanding at an exponential rate, mind blogging to say the least. This can be both helpful and equally detrimental as those with hidden agendas can reach huge audiences in very short periods of time. The television has been a most successful ‘programming’ device, often referred to as a weapon of mass distraction, like a magician as he draws your attention to one hand while the other makes the ‘magic.’ Deviously clever, would you not agree? Mainstream media has taken full advantage of it to disseminate its disinformation to millions daily along with mind numbing commercials offering us a prepackaged reality designed only for the benefit of their corporate masters. I gave my TV away a few years back and never regretted that for a moment.

The ability to discern the vast amounts of data that we are exposed to is extremely helpful when we learn to trust what feels right and what triggers a red flag. Intuition is the key. This is not to say that we are going to have a perfect score card but it does improve ones batting average. Certainly it’s better than relying on some one else to tell us what we need to know, to give us our truth. This discernment technique naturally applies to Internet websites, social networks, and all forms of communication, digital, print and voice.

So reducing ones exposure to mass media of all kinds is, in my opinion, a critical step in removing one’s self from the Matrix. Take a media break by reducing your TV time to one hour a day or less. Watching television before going to sleep is not recommended, actually that’s a real good time to catch a few minutes of meditation.

Well that’s it for today. Part 2 of Escaping the Matrix will be along in a few days which will take us a little further down the rabbit hole. Thanks for dropping by and I am glad you took the red pill.
